The Kinderhotel Waldhof specialises in families with babies, toddlers, children, teens and parents. For babies from 0 to 2.99 years, there is the Zwergen-Club; for children from the age of 3, there is the Wurzl-Club; and for older kids and teens, there are dedicated play, action and chill-out areas.
Is the hotel pushchair-friendly?
Yes, all areas of the hotel are accessible with a pushchair. The hotel also offers its own buggies, baby carriers and pushchairs with carrycots on request for an additional fee.
Is there Wi-Fi at the hotel?
Yes, free Wi-Fi is available in all areas of the hotel.
Childcare and baby care
How many hours of childcare are included at the Waldhof?
At the Waldhof, more than 80 hours of childcare and 70 hours of baby care per week are included. Care is available 7 days a week and is tailored to different age groups.
From what age is childcare available?
Baby care in the Zwergen-Club is available for babies from 0 to 2.99 years. Children from the age of 3 are looked after in the Wurzl-Club. Older children and teens have their own programmes and leisure areas.
Does childcare need to be booked in advance?
Childcare from the age of 3 is available daily and does not require advance booking. For baby care in the Zwergen-Club, registration is required by 8.00 pm the day before.
Is there dedicated baby care?
Yes, babies from 0 to 2.99 years are lovingly cared for in the Zwergen-Club. Care takes place in bright rooms with a separate sleeping area and is provided by trained baby care staff.
Is there supervised lunch for children?
Yes, children can enjoy supervised lunch every day as part of childcare.
Can individual childcare also be booked?
Yes, individual childcare is available on request and for an additional fee. This care does not take place in the group rooms, but wherever you wish – including outside regular childcare hours.
What is included in the baby all-round package?
The baby all-round package includes many practical extras for a holiday with a baby: baby monitor, cot, night light, changing equipment, baby bath, buggies, baby carriers, highchairs, bottle warmer, baby food, purées and much more.
Is baby food and purée available at the hotel?
Yes, the Waldhof offers baby food, jars and purées from the HiPP brand. Purées can also be freshly prepared on request. Small guest kitchens are also available on every floor for warming bottles.

What catering is included at the Waldhof?
Waldhof cuisine includes a generous breakfast buffet, lunch, afternoon buffet, a 5-course evening menu, a dedicated children’s buffet, a pizza corner, non-alcoholic drinks from the drinks bars and many other culinary highlights.
Is there a dedicated children’s buffet?
Yes, children have their own children’s buffet at child-friendly height as well as a dedicated children’s menu in the evening. This allows even the youngest guests to enjoy their meals in a relaxed way.
Are non-alcoholic drinks included?
Yes, non-alcoholic drinks are included at the Waldhof. The all-inclusive soft drinks bar with water, juices, lemonades, iced tea and other drinks, as well as coffee and tea, is accessible around the clock.
Is there food for babies?
Yes, bottles, jars, purée and baby food from the HiPP brand are available for babies. This means there are no fixed mealtimes for babies.
Are options available for intolerances or special dietary requirements?
Yes, on request, the Waldhof team is happy to accommodate special dietary requests and food intolerances, such as gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan options. We do not prepare halal or kosher meals.
What is the Waldhof Steak Night?
The Waldhof Steak Night takes place every Saturday. Guests can look forward to around 20 selected delicacies from the KOPA Charcoal Ovengrill and KAMADO grill – prepared directly in front of guests in the restaurant and served as part of the buffet to sample and enjoy.
Are alcoholic drinks included?
Alcoholic drinks are not included in the overnight price.
Swimming, pools and wellness
Which pools and swimming areas are available at the hotel?
The Waldhof offers several swimming areas for the whole family: an indoor family pool, Käpt’n Hook children’s adventure pool, baby pool, Trio-Slide water slide, heated infinity pool, natural swimming pond and outdoor whirlpool.
Is there a baby pool?
Yes, the baby pool is heated to 34 °C and features play figures, a baby slide and fountains – ideal for the youngest guests.
Are there water slides at the hotel?
Yes, the Waldhof has an action-packed Trio-Slide water slide as well as a slide in the Käpt’n Hook adventure pool, designed in the shape of a pirate ship. There is also a baby slide in the children’s pool.
Is the infinity pool open all year round?
Yes, the heated infinity pool is a highlight all year round – perfect for diving in and relaxing in summer, and for enjoying views of the snow-covered mountains in winter.
Is there a family sauna?
Yes, the family sauna is a textile wellness area for parents and children. It includes a Finnish sauna, steam bath, “Kapitänskajüte” children’s sauna in the indoor pool, snow lounge, relaxation area and a cosy corner with tea, juices and snacks.
Is there an adults-only wellness area?
Yes, adults can enjoy their own adults-only wellness area at the Waldhof with saunas, steam bath, infrared cabin, relaxation area and glacier pool.
Can massages and beauty treatments be booked?
Yes, massages, peelings, body wraps, wellness rituals and treatments for adults and children can be booked at the Waldschlössl SPA. These services are not included in the overnight price.
Play, indoor areas and teens
Which indoor play areas are available at the Waldhof?
The indoor play paradise features 9 playrooms, including a ninja course, ValoJump, the “Wurzls Erlebnisbergwerk” soft play area, ball and sports hall, family playroom, creative workshop, chill-out lounge, teen room, Wurzl-Club and Zwergen-Club.
Are there offers for teenagers?
Yes, teens can enjoy a chill-out lounge, a teen room from the age of 10, table tennis, table football, billiards, air hockey, a multi-touch gaming table, Netflix, Wi-Fi and many action-packed activities.
What is the ninja course?
The ninja course is an indoor action area with various obstacles for jumping, climbing, swinging, balancing and testing strength. The course is specially designed around children’s motor skills.
What is ValoJump?
ValoJump is an interactive jumping game that combines movement with virtual play. Children jump and move on an AirTrack mat and use this to control their game character on the screen.
Outdoor experiences, animals and TUFFI
What does the 4,000 m² Gaudialm offer?
The Gaudialm is the large outdoor play paradise at the Waldhof. It features a water playground, alpine lake with raft, slides, swings, go-kart track, play tractor, climbing mine and many more adventures.
Are there animals at the Kinderhotel Waldhof?
Yes, there are many animals to discover at the Waldhof: ponies, alpacas, goats, rabbits, marmots, chickens and a cat look forward to meeting young animal lovers.
Can children go pony riding at the hotel?
Yes, pony riding is available at the Waldhof. In summer, pony riding takes place 3 times a week as part of childcare; in winter, pony experiences are offered 2 times a week on the covered riding arena.
Are there alpacas at the Waldhof?
Yes, the Waldhof is home to the alpacas Timon, Pumbaa, Tom and Jerry. They can be visited and are also part of our hikes. An alpaca hike can also be booked as a Special Moment.
What is the Almexpress TUFFI?
TUFFI is the colourful Waldhof Almexpress – a large tractor with a covered trailer. In summer, it takes families to the alpine pastures, through Großarl or on special excursions, and in winter it takes guests sledging and children to their ski course at the lift.
Does TUFFI also take pushchairs to the alpine pasture?
Yes, TUFFI safely takes families, including pushchairs, up to the alpine pasture and back to the hotel.
Summer holidays and activities
Which summer activities are available for families?
In summer, families can enjoy hiking, cycling, e-bike tours, animal experiences, alpine pasture rides with TUFFI, pony riding, alpaca experiences, outdoor playgrounds, swimming fun, the activity programme in the Großarltal valley and many excursion destinations in the province of Salzburg.
Are there guided hikes?
Yes, the Waldhof offers guided hikes for guests. The hotel is a member of BERG-GESUND, allowing guests to take part in selected guided tours free of charge. Family-friendly hikes with TUFFI and the alpacas are also offered.
Can hiking equipment be borrowed from the hotel?
Yes, rucksacks, hiking poles, Nordic walking poles and binoculars can be borrowed from the hotel free of charge. Each room also has its own heated hiking locker.
Can bicycles or e-bikes be hired?
Yes, the Waldhof offers free bicycles for families as well as e-mountain bikes for hire for an additional fee. Bicycle helmets, child seats, a bike room, washing station and service corner are also available.
Is there an activity programme in Großarl?
Yes, the Großarltal valley offers a varied activity programme with rafting, canyoning, climbing, e-bike & hike, guided tours and other experiences. Some programme items are subject to a fee.
Winter holidays and skiing holidays
Which winter activities are available away from the slopes?
Away from the slopes, families can go sledging, winter hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking or take a horse-drawn sleigh ride. The BERG-GESUND winter programme also offers various tours.
Is there a ski school directly at the hotel?
Yes, the Waldhof has its own partner ski school, powered by Gruber, directly in the hotel. Children can conveniently start their ski course from the hotel.
From what age can children attend ski courses?
Mini taster courses are available from the age of 2. Ski play lessons are available from the age of 3, and beginner children’s ski courses from the age of 4.
Is there ski hire at the hotel?
Yes, the Waldhof has a ski shop and ski hire directly at the hotel. Equipment can be reserved online in advance and will be ready in the heated ski locker on arrival.
Is there a ski transfer?
Yes, the free ski transfer departs every 15 minutes directly from the ski cellar. TUFFI also takes advanced ski school children directly to the lift stations.
Are ski passes available directly at the hotel?
Yes, ski passes can be issued directly at the Waldhof reception or booked online in advance.

Which rooms and suites are available at the Waldhof?
The Waldhof offers various 1- to 4-room rooms and suites for different family sizes. Many rooms feature separate sleeping areas, a balcony or terrace and practical family facilities.
Are there rooms with separate sleeping areas?
Yes, many multi-room rooms and suites offer two separate or separable bedrooms, making them ideal for families.
What is included in the basic room facilities?
Basic facilities include a bathroom, separate WC, balcony or terrace, mini fridge, safe, satellite TV, night light, cot, baby monitor via mobile phone, pool bag, slippers and bathrobes for adults and children.
How are the room prices calculated?
The listed prices apply per adult and night based on a minimum occupancy of 2 adults and a stay of up to 4 nights, plus local tax. For stays of 5 nights or more, the nightly rate is reduced. For a 1-night stay, the price increases.
Are there offers for single parents travelling with a child?
Yes, the Waldhof offers special deals for single parents. Depending on the offer, single parents enjoy special benefits when one adult occupies a room.
How does the 4=3 offer work?
During certain periods, the 4=3 offer gives you one night free when you stay with us for at least 4 nights.
Are there children-stay-free weeks?
Yes, the Waldhof regularly offers children-stay-free weeks, such as Wichtelwochen or Juniorwochen. Depending on the period, children up to a certain age stay free of charge in the room or suite of an adult.
Are there discounts for children?
Yes, the Waldhof regularly offers Zwergenwochen. During selected offer periods, children up to the age of 6 stay in the room or suite of an adult for half the child price.
Is there a best price guarantee?
Yes, the prices offered are the hotel’s best prices. Kinderhotel Waldhof guarantees that these prices cannot be found cheaper anywhere else.
Arrival, departure and mobility
Where is the Kinderhotel Waldhof located?
The Premium Kinderhotel Waldhof is located in Großarl in the province of Salzburg, around 70 kilometres south of the city of Salzburg.
From what time is the room ready on the day of arrival?
Rooms and suites are ready from 3.30 pm on the day of arrival. All-inclusive catering begins with lunch on the day of arrival.
By what time must the room be vacated on the day of departure?
On the day of departure, we ask you to vacate your room or suite by 10.30 am. All-inclusive catering ends with the afternoon snack on the day of departure.
Can guests arrive by train or plane?
Yes, arrival by car, train or plane is possible. If arriving by train or plane, the hotel will be happy to organise a taxi transfer to the hotel.
Is parking available at the hotel?
Yes, each family has its own parking space or underground parking space. Premium underground parking spaces are provided with selected suites.
What does the mobility charge in the province of Salzburg mean?
A mobility charge applies per adult per day. In return, guests can use public transport such as trains and buses in the province of Salzburg free of charge – including for arrival and departure.
Booking, payment and cancellation
How does the booking become binding?
The reservation becomes binding once the deposit has been received. The deposit amounts to 40% of the travel price.
What cancellation conditions apply at the Kinderhotel Waldhof?
Cancellations up to 90 days before arrival are free of charge. For cancellations from 90 to 30 days before the start of the holiday, 40% of the arrangement price will be charged. From 30 to 7 days before the start of the holiday, 70% will be charged. From 7 days before arrival, 90% of the arrangement price will be charged. Cancellations are only valid in writing.
What happens in the event of late arrival or early departure?
In the event of late arrival or early departure, 90% of the daily rate will be charged.
Which payment methods are accepted?
At the Waldhof, you can pay by debit card, credit card such as Mastercard and Visa, or in cash.
Is cancellation insurance recommended?
Yes, the hotel recommends taking out hotel cancellation insurance with Europäische Reiseversicherung so that you are covered in the event of cancellation or early departure.
Pets, smoking and other information
Are dogs or pets allowed at the hotel?
The Premium Kinderhotel Waldhof is deliberately a dog-free hotel. This allows us to create a particularly relaxed, hygienic and allergy-friendly environment where all guests can feel completely at ease. Unfortunately, we are therefore unable to accommodate pets.
Is the Kinderhotel Waldhof a non-smoking hotel?
Yes, the hotel is a non-smoking hotel. Smoking is permitted on the public terrace and in front of the hotel, but not on the balconies.
Can vouchers be purchased for the Waldhof?
Yes, individually tailored vouchers can be ordered for the Premium Kinderhotel Waldhof – for example stay vouchers, wellness vouchers or value vouchers.
